Tarom is the national airline of Romania operating under the IATA code of RO from its main hub Bucharest Henri Coandă International Airport (formerly known as Otopeni International Airport). Tarom is actually an acronym for Romanian: Transporturile Aeriene Române (Romanian Air Transport) and have been in operation since the 18th September 1954 and have been a member of the SkyTeam Alliance since the 25 June 2010. Unfortunately, Tarom has been unprofitable since 2008. After the collapse of communism, Tarom was operating a fleet of 65 Russian aircraft and an expansive network as of 2019 they now only fly to 22 cities with a fleet of 25 aircraft and an additional 14 planes on order.
